The Waddell’s had a wonderful Christmas at home in Manassas, VA. Hard to believe, however, Christmas didn’t officially start until 9a—a first for us. Even Chelsea didn’t get up until about this time! Here are a few pictures of the family and their presents. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for the new pajamas!
Our family has a proud heritage from Okinawa Japan (thus the name of our blog). It’s been very exciting to see that our children love Okinawa and are picking up on some of the cultural traditions from there.
Here below is a picture of Dee Kei playing the Okinawa Shamisen with Noriko singing.
He has taken a great interest in guitars this past year and now can claim that he plays four different types of guitars…bass, acoustic, shamisen, and the ukulele.
He’s in the band Shamrock 19 (http://www.myspace.com/shamrock19band) and plays Bass Guitar and sings backup. He does have a couple of original songs where he’s been the lead songwriter. I’ll have to post a follow-up later with these. We’re all very proud of him.
Chelsea and her adorable frien, Paul David just finished running the Marshal Mile at the elementary school. techinically, she only had to run a quarter mile. Danny and me had to run a full mile! But I got second place and Chelsea got 4th in her run!! Dee Kei didnt come to the run because he was too busy being chill with his friends. But when i went up there to get my 2nd place medal, kids who were watching started saying stuff like," Who is that girl" and "I've never seen her before" because we moved out here in Virginia after i finished elementary school. It was soo embarrassing!! we all got very muddy and sweatty that day and so when we all got home my mom made us run to the basement and put our clothes in the washer immediatley( I know I didn't spell that right).
